HB 1197 (2024)
Authorize additional employees to complete fingerprints for background checks, require background check for fish and game guide license, ensure insurance coverage for insemination
Authorizes additional government employees, outside the Department of Safety, to take fingerprints for background checks. According to the bill's purpose statement, the goal is to ease a backlog in the fingerprinting process for new employees and volunteers. This bill also establishes a task force to review background check requirements for state employee and volunteer positions.
The Senate amended the bill to ensure insurance coverage for up to 6 rounds of intrauterine insemination per plan year. This is similar to a provision of SB 558, a bill killed in the House.
The Senate also added text from SB 503 to this bill. That text requires a criminal background check when applying for a fish and game guide license.
A conference committee of representatives and senators approved these Senate changes.
