SB 504 (2024)

Add misdemeanor penalty for trespassing on land for non-recreational, criminal purposes; bail reform

Summary:

Revises the law against criminal trespass so that it is a misdemeanor to enter open space land for reasons other than recreation where the owner has posted "no trespass except for skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, hunting, hiking, or nature observation." This bill also makes it a misdemeanor to commit a drug crime or human trafficking on the property of another. The Senate also added this text to HB 1018.

The House amended the bill to add back their version of HB 318, a bail reform bill.

The House and Senate did not agree on a final version of the bill.
