HB 1259 (2024)
Revise regulations for homeowners insurance, $25 million for drinking water infrastructure
Summary:
Clarifies the distinction between personal and commercial lines in homeowners policies; permits the use electronic communication for auditable basis policies; and requires the insurer to state the specific reason for cancellation or refusal to renew a policy. This bill is a request of the Insurance Department.
The Senate amended the bill to also send $25 million to the Department of Environmental Services for drinking water infrastructure in southern New Hampshire impacted by PFAS contamination. This is similar to SB 393. However, a conference committee of representatives and senators removed this part of the bill.
