Should NH criminalize toplessness for women?

Rep. Brian Gallagher is sponsoring a 2016 bill that would make toplessness a misdemeanor for women. The bill excludes breastfeeding.

The bill was prompted by the "Free the Nipple" movement, which staged several demonstrations of female toplessness last summer. State law does not address exposed breasts.

"Free the Nipple" says that "The issues we're addressing are equal rights for men and women, a more balanced system of censorship, and legal rights for all women to breastfeed in public."

Rep. Gallagher told the Laconia Daily Sun, "[Parents are] entitled not to have an evolving standard imposed on them. If this kind of behavior is minimized, what prevents it from taking place at a Little League game in June or a University of New Hampshire football game in September?"

Although this poll is wonderful, the difference will come when our state lawmakers hear from us. We all need to contact our state lawmakers by writing directly to them and tell them that we do not support this bill and we will not support them if they vote for this.
This is simply not an acceptable law to put into place in the "LIVE FREE OR DIE" state.
