Does NH need a minimum wage?

Under current state law, New Hampshire’s minimum wage is the same as the federal minimum wage.

Two 2016 bills would increase the New Hampshire minimum wage above the federal minimum.

First, HB 1480 would raise the minimum wage to $8.25 in 2017, $9 in 2018, and $9.50 in 2019.

HB 1346 would gradually increase the minimum wage for tipped employees from $3.27 in 2016 to the full minimum wage by 2020.

Supporters of a minimum wage increase point out that the minimum wage has not increased with the rate of inflation, so the minimum wage is now worth much less than it was in the 1960s.

Opponents of a minimum wage increase argue that a higher minimum wage will increase prices and force businesses to cut employees.

Last year the state legislature rejected several bills to increase the state minimum wage.

they need to do better than that!! people cant live on $9/hr now!! new hampshire needs to wake up and raise their minimum wage to at LEAST $10 and lower their damn cost of living!! average rent is $900/month with nothing included!! how the hell is someone making $8.25 going to pay for that? and that's if you're lucky enough to find a job here!!
