Position on Issues

Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"That question should read 'to spend on private school or religious school expenses?' Recipents of EFAs under RSA 194-F are required to terminate a homeschooling program following RSA 193-A. The majority of EFA funds seem to be going to private religious schools. I believe this diversion of tax dollars is a violation of Part I Art 6 of the NH Constitution. 'But no person shall ever be compelled to pay towards the support of the schools of any sect or denomination.'"

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"An unintended consequence of existing law is that criminal penalties on doctors are making it more difficult to recruit doctors to practice in NH, and impairing access to medical care in rural NH for everyone."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"This spring, LBA reported to House Finance that NH's potential liability for the Sununu Youth Development Center could total $40 Billion -- five times NH's total annual spending. If this comes to pass, NH cannot pay that bill with its current tax structure and something will have to change. We certainly cannot raise that sum through property taxes. This judgement likely will make comprehensive tax reform necessary."

This judgement likely will make comprehensive tax reform necessary."

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"Last year, the BET and BPT raised $38 Million less than the previous year. Given the massive (up to $40 Billion) shortfall likely to occur from the Sununu Youth Development Center, other taxpayers ought to expect businesses to pay their fair share, and no more than their fair share, of what is needed to pay NH's bills."

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?

"The time of 'ice in' on NH's lakes has decreased substantially. This is one of the factors leading to a significant increase in toxic algae blooms on Lake Winnipesaukee and elsewhere, putting our tourist economy and our property values at significant risk."

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?
