Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?
"Almost all of the families getting this help were already sending their child to a private school or home-schooling. So most could afford it without the drain on our Treasury."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"Few people have thought through what it means to have an abortion after 24 weeks. They are very rare, but horribly difficult to decide to do. Certain lethal defects in a fetus are only medically knowable at 22-24 weeks, and then the parents have to decide whether to risk the mother's fertility or life by carrying a dying fetus to term. The law specifies that a doctor performing such an abortion that cannot prove the 'fatal anomalies' we made them add to the law in court is liable for years in prison and a major fine, trying to make them tell the patient she ought to carry to term when the doctor knows that's likely a really bad outcome. Women do not carry a baby for 6 months and then abandon them for no good cause. Leave them alone! or help them grieve."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"but I will not try to achieve one unless and until the majority of our citizens learn why it's the best alternative to cut our property taxes down to size"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"bad for our commercial areas, and regressive"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"Every time we decrease the business tax rates, we force the towns and schools to increase their budgets and thus property taxes, because 'we don't have the money' to pay for the state's share of education, housing, health and social services, local roads and bridges, etc etc. We have raised the floor below which small businesses do not have to pay, and set it to increase with inflation, and I began that process, because a small business equivalent from 20, 30 years ago is too small to matter except for the person trying to keep it going."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?
"We have a lot of wealthy people in this state that live almost entirely off distributions and dividends, and therefore pay a lot less of their fair share than really poor people do in our state, which is against the mandates of our state constitution, and leaves us with less services, more property taxes, and more homeless families and impoverished every year."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?
"Our state energy policy is based in hanging on to oil and gas forever. Climate change is almost at the point where life will become unlivable, and they want us to keep accelerating it? We have gotten a few good things through allowing for some solar, wind, energy storage, methane-to-electricity conversions, but the new dept of energy keeps holding them back."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?
"but it has to be a reasonable deadline or reasonable criteria - if you come from another state it will take more than the 7 days they tried to give you to confirm when they are requiring birth certificates, for example."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?
"It needs careful consideration and discussion with the towns, but our zoning ordinances at local level need updating, and made rational, so that the children who grew up here and the people that move here for jobs in our businesses can afford more than a tent in the forest or a blanket on a park bench. It is not fair that the small hubs of local areas have to provide all the new housing, and sometimes the geography does not even allow it."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support legislation to expand the net energy metering system capacity cap from 1 MW to 5 MW for all residential and commercial customers in New Hampshire?

"Although all residential customers is unlikely to work - it'd be pretty expensive for individuals, I think!"

Should New Hampshire guarantee the right to access abortion before 24 weeks?

"Few people have thought through what it means to have an abortion after 24 weeks. They are very rare, but horribly difficult to decide to do. Should the state increase funding for child care providers?

"but I hope we can pay for it - there will be no federal relief funds soon and the Rs have been cutting the business taxes since 2016, and removed the Interest&Dividends tax starting next year, and without the federal cushion we will be hard pressed to continue what we've already done. And yet business sources tell us that the taxes are not that important to them, they need the services and the workers that cannot afford to live here; and a business-run think tank in DC has been calculating for decades now that the average business in NH pays a lot more in property taxes than in business taxes."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"Actually, it's a lot more than 2/3s if you're just looking at education taxes."

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"actually, we'd have to create a minimum wage first.."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add legal protections for residents of other states who travel here for health care related to abortion or gender transition?

"but I believe the Rs just passed a bill which forbids gender transition health care in NH, too. They haven't listened to 8-year-olds explaining coherently why they hate being stuck in the wrong body - and to 50-60-year-olds explaining why they finally decided to end the charade they'd been living and suffering from for 40-50 years. Leave them alone! Freedom means for all, not just the ones you agree with."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire repeal the ban on abortion after 24 weeks gestation?

"Few people have thought through what it means to have an abortion after 24 weeks. They are very rare, but horribly difficult to decide to do. Should NH require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement?

"Local law officers are meant to protect the public, which includes the undocumented man that fled a country at war and is working at gig jobs we need done, and the undocumented aged mother of two US citizens. And they do not have the legal authority to arrest people under federal laws."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"We have almost no gun safety laws in this state, and we have very high suicide rates."
