Position on Issues

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should New Hampshire ban abortion after 20 weeks gestation, with exceptions for cases of rape/incest and health complications?

"While I am pro-life, trying to change the law only creates polarization. I would rather educate other women about the importance of adoption and how much it helps other women who can't have families of their own. We need to have a new approach to this issue if we are to stop the fighting. There is too much playing politics with people's lives and not enough people trying to find solutions."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire extend the renewable portfolio standard past 2025, requiring public utilities to obtain more than 25% of electricity from renewable energy sources?

"This would have to be cost-effective. It would also have to be tailored to the kind of weather we get in this region. I would like to see the plan."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH increase law enforcement policies and penalties for heroin-related offenses?

Legalizing heroin and other hard drugs will just be the same as enabling addicts. It won't help. Heroin killed my siblings. This needs to stop. We need increased penalties, including financial for those who sell heroin and other hard drugs, incarceration and better treatment for addicts who commit crimes while using drugs or alcohol or commit crimes in order to obtain drugs or alcohol. Better treatment only for those addicts who's only crime was using these drugs. Legalization of the use and sale of marijuana in New Hampshire as an alternative to hard drugs and alcohol. Leniency for addicts who only sell small amounts of drugs to feed thier habbits [sic]. The pushers I seek to punish are the ones who get everyone hooked in the first place, not the desperate addicts. I want to get these folks clean and give them their lives back."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase public access to reports of police misconduct?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Do you support the option of mail-in ballots for all voters, not just absentees?

"They tried it in some places already and it was a huge failure. Ballot envelopes were coded with the political party of the people receiving the ballots. People received multiple ballots, and ballots were lost in the mail. This was a disaster. There is no way this system should be used, especially in a National election."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH legalize the recreational use of marijuana?

"With the same age restrictions, restrictions on using in public and driving laws as alcohol. I want to see a mandatory blood test if you fail a driving test and are suspected of being high. I don't want to see any legal leniency for anyone who thinks this is going to be a huge party. Use responsibly. I do NOT SUPPORT the legalization of heroin, cocaine, or other hard drugs. I never will."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Was New Hampshire right to continue expanded Medicaid eligibility, using the traditional Medicaid system of managed care instead of private insurance?

"We need a combination of public and healthy private industry in order to be sure everyone gets the coverage they need or want."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Was NH right to expand Medicaid eligibility, using private insurance wherever possible?

"I support NH's expanded Medicaid program. I do not support Obamacare, but until it can be repealed, we must make [illegible]. If we have no new jobs, because our Democratic Governor does not know how to bring industry into our state, we need to provide for the families that are still unemployed for all these years!"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"The minimum wage was designed to be increased in keeping with inflation. This process should never have been stopped. We need to rectify this problem."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH do more to enforce federal immigration laws?

"I support increased state enforcement of federal immigration laws. Every individual who is found to be here illegally should get a fair hearing. I also am concerned for those who maybe have secretly been exploited in terrible ways. They must be found, protected and given sanctuary if necessary. There are thousands of people who are brought to this country illegally to be used in sweat shops, in the sex trade, or in some other form of slavery. This has to be stopped. This should be a huge priority. I don't want to see any tax payer money go into building that 'wall' between the US and Mexico. I don't know why any fiscal conservative would. Enforcing existing laws would be just as effective."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase the size of solar panel installations that may participate in net energy metering?

"New England is not suited for solar energy. We are better suited for wind- in safe locations...not on the top of mountains. Solar energy is only useful here on good days. It is not a smart investment of time and money. If you pare the two, you might have a chance, but you would do best with a constant, like hydro. Not damming, but water paddles. Even then there are times of the year that the water might freeze. You need a combination of energy sources, but solar is the least effective choice for this region."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase subsidies and tax credits for business investment?

"This question is too vague. What kind of business investment? All business or SOUND business investment plans? It sounds good in principle, but i would like to see the plan."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

"I am undecided on this issue. I am willing to discuss"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase the base amount of per-pupil funding it provides to local school districts?

"K-12 should be handled at the local level. This is why we HAVE local school boards. I favor more local control."

"I support body cameras for police officers in New Hampshire."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

"Undecided"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire continue to participate in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which requires utilities to purchase allowances for every ton of carbon they emit?

"Carbon allowances are a scam. They don't actually do anything. I would rather put the money into something like renewable energy."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should New Hampshire maintain the renewable portfolio standard, which requires public utilities in New Hampshire to obtain a certain percentage of electricity from renewable energy sources (25% by 2025)?

"I am undecided on this issue."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire create a road usage fee?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should New Hampshire government do more to increase the supply of affordable housing?

"The state can do a lot toward this goal, including using tax credits and [illegible]. I do not support putting tax dollars into this. With the right policy decisions, it shouldn't be necessary to fund these housing projects with public funds."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

What is your opinion on the state providing some funding for Planned Parenthood?

"I oppose the state providing some funding for Planned Parenthood. If a group breaks the law, it does not matter who they are, or what they do. They should not get a free pass. Planned Parenthood broke federal law by selling aborted fetus parts. They should have been prosecuted. Any other organization would have been. We have 2 horrible candidates running for President because somehow, they are also above the law - when does it end? When does everyone start getting held to the same standards? Planned Parenthood should lose its government funding for a period of time until it proves it has reformed."

Seacoast Online Voter Guide, 2018

"I believe state workers can have family medical leave. I do not believe in forcing all businesses to do this. Some small businesses cannot afford to implement this."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH continue to administer statewide standards-based student assessments?

"I am undecided on this issue."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire create a statewide family and medical leave program, paid for with a percentage of employee wages, with no opt-out?

"This is a sneaky income tax. It will be abused the same way that many federal tax funds are. One point is in how Democrats robbed the Social Security Fund to finance their unethical Impeachment last Winter. Politicians do this all the time. Then they raise the deduction, so they can use it for other things. They may promise you that they won't, but they also promised to repeal the BET over two decades ago."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire provide student loan debt repayment programs for workers in industries with labor shortages?

"It makes more sense to encourage education in fields that have better hiring opportunities. Colleges need to move away from pushing liberal arts degrees and teaching students real careers."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire add tax incentives for affordable housing development?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire allocate tax revenues for private and home schooling costs?

"Teachers do not want to go back to work, and this means that many public schools are having problems opening. There is also the added issue of parents worrying about sending their kids back to public schools. Homeschooling, and alternative education has become a reality for many families. It is important that all students have access to the best materials in order to keep up with other kids their ages. Many educators have voiced great conserns about children getting the proper education at home or in non public environments. Making sure that all school age children have the right tools to thrive is paramount to their success."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should parents be allowed to opt their children out of the NH immunization/vaccination registry?

"Parents should be allowed to opt their children out of the NH immunization/vacination registry."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

"N/A. The law has already been signed by the governor."
