Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"Charter and Private schools are becoming more and more popular due to persistent public school concerns. Our role is not to dictate where parents educate their kids, but to provide fair (equitable) resources to kids regardless which education path they choose."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"This is a complex issue. It is not purely about choices or rights! These must also be a clause for exceptions...those we can think of now, and those we haven't thought of yet."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

Should New Hampshire ban discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3?

"There is no justifiable reason to discuss these topics with young children K-3!"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the state law that bans teaching certain concepts, such as the idea that people may be "inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously"?

"This depends on age, and how it's approached. This is totally unnecessary in K-4 at least. In higher grades, this could naturally be taught in conjunction with history courses, but does not need to be a main focus or primary topic itself. NO child of ANY age should be made to feel superior, inferior, or guilty by course material, and NO child should be told they are racist, sexist, or an oppressor!"

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"I would review/hear/consider proposals, but I think NH is already quite business-friendly."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?

"I have been an oceanographer and meteorologist for 30+ years. Climate change is a serious and undeniable issue. Sadly, those with agendas on both the left and right push talking points that are inconsistent with most of the science. The left pushes the Green New Deal and other legislation that is more focused on social agendas and virtue signaling than solving the climate problem. Meanwhile, many on the right deny the issue by recycling thoroughly debunked talking points. We need to enact bi-partisan solutions that supports communities and local economies while reducing emissions - not creating economic hardships or social stigmas."

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"Voters can register in advance without ID, but the deadline for bringing an ID must be Election Day"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire add a fee or mileage charge for electric vehicle owners to help pay for transportation and/or electric infrastructure?

"No. E-vehicle owners already have many fees to pay..."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?

"Like most issues, this one DEPENDS on what state actions are envisioned, and how they are proposed and enacted. This may vary from town to town. The state should not prevent towns from making decisions in the best long-term interests of their town needs, while respecting natural areas, wetlands, etc."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire extend the renewable portfolio standard past 2025, requiring public utilities to obtain more than 25% of electricity from renewable energy sources?

"This is not a slam-dunk either...IT DEPENDS how the bill or language is worded!"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"I'm not opposed to additional funding and funding sources for schools. At the same time, it is healthy to audit school district records, and compare student performance and cost across various districts. Looking across school districts may reveal 'best practice' ideas, along with lessons learned the hard way."

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"I'll support a modest raise, as $7.25 (same as federal) is a bit of a joke. This is more of a state issue than a federal issue. I do NOT think the minimum wage was intended to support a family, and there's a delicate balance in not making it too hard for small businesses to hire additional personnel. I would certainly support $10-$11/hr."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should the state permanently increase how much tax revenue it shares with towns and cities every year, beyond public school funding?

"This depends on the specifics of the proposal/s. How much $$? How would it be split across towns/cities? Would it be for pre-defined uses (e.g. schools)? etc..."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the gradual phase-out of the Interests and Dividends tax?

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"We are one of the safest states in the US right now, and have some of the least restrictive gun laws. We do need more focus on mental health solutions for those with mental conditions/disabilities."
