"Like many citizens, I support the 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms. NH has many sportsmen and responsible gun owners who recognize that owning a firearm also carries a responsibility to protect society from wrongful use. I believe that appropriate handgun training and licensing is important to assure the safety of gun owners and their families, as well as the general population. 'Stand your ground' legislation has already led to tragic consequences in Florida; it is only a matter of time before it happens in NH. It is time to redefine 'responsible gun ownership'; it is not the right to procure and sell assault weapons with 100 bullet magazine clips or to carry a handgun into the Statehouse."
