Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

“Unfortunately, some schools have stated that they are NOT able to assist the needs of every child. I’ve been told some schools even suggest moving out of town for a better fit which can be extremely disruptive to a family regarding housing costs in other towns and how this affects the other children within the family. I see EFA’s as one option a family may consider to help navigate this issue.”

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

“The majority of NH citizens agree with the current abortion law in place allowing up til 24 weeks. Also, current statistics show that from 2012 -2021 abortion rates generally decreased. Keep in mind the reasons given for terminations are not documented (unwanted vs unviable vs risk to mother). All of this information demonstrates that keeping the current law plus promoting education along with a wide array of resources & options available are working. Let’s continue to focus on education & resources to continue the trend of decreasing abortion rates while keeping women safe & healthy.”

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

“The majority of NH citizens agree with the current abortion law in place allowing up til 24 weeks. In addition, with my science background, I am always looking at the latest research & statistics. Currently statistics show that the majority of women who choose to have an abortion do so before 13 weeks. Keep in mind the reasons given for termination in general are not documented (unwanted vs unviable vs risk to mother). That said, from 2012 - 2021 abortion rates generally decreased. All of this information demonstrates that keeping the current law, promoting education, and offering a wide array of resources/options are working. Let’s continue to focus on education & resources to continue the trend of decreasing abortion rates while keeping women safe & healthy.”

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"In order to maintain our No Income Tax & No Sales Tax status we need to look for additional revenue sources to help offset costs. If other revenue sources have been explored & do not present themselves as viable agreed upon solutions we may need to look at a limited or low % broad based sales tax. If it was a last resort measure I would make sure it would reduce the property tax load of residents.”

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"I need to see the proposed plan on where the decrease in revenue would be accounted for by funding elsewhere. "

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?

"In order to maintain No Income Tax AND No Sales Tax status we need to explore other revenue sources that will improve the quality of life for citizens financially overall, including relieving property taxes. I will explore other revenue pathways. This would be a last resort option if no other revenue sources were agreed upon."

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?

“I am for implementing impactful solutions that don’t contradict our efforts. For example, windmills in the ocean may seem like a good idea however they heat water around it which could add to rising sea temperatures, they are made of fiberglass so they can’t be recycled, and they have been the target of many lawsuits citing quality & defect issues such as the latest disaster off Nantucket where one turbine blade broke off causing debris to contaminate the sea, close beaches, and prevent fisherman from fishing in certain areas. Windmills only last 20+/-years so this would create an additional environmental problem deciding what to do with all the non-recyclable fiberglass green energy waste.”

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"In order to take a drivers license exam or get married etc. we need to submit documentation ahead of time. . . voting should be no exception."

Should New Hampshire guarantee the right to access abortion before 24 weeks?

“The majority of NH citizens agree with the current abortion law in place allowing up til 24 weeks. With my science background, I am always looking at the latest research & statistics. Currently statistics show that the majority of women who choose to have an abortion do so before 13 weeks. Keep in mind the reasons given for termination in general are not documented (unwanted vs unviable vs risk to mother) and women are at risk of complications after seeking abortion procedures. That said, from 2012 - 2021 abortions rates generally decreased. All of this information demonstrates that education along with a wide array of resources & options available are working. Let’s continue to focus on education & resources to continue the trend of decreasing abortion rates while keeping women safe & healthy.”

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should the state increase funding for child care providers?

"We need to explore other avenues to relieve the heavy financial burden of child care for families such as incentivizing flexible hybrid work schedules and expanding school day schedules."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"Three issues stand out here to me… 1) Greenland residents are very vocal about property taxes being too high and increasing too much, and 2) more special education funding is desperately needed at GCS & everywhere. In order to reduce property taxes & increase funding we need to find alternative revenue sources for the state to collect (explore state run cannabis sales or gambling, etc) to help offset the cost of education for Greenland & other communities, and to help bring education service equality/standardization to all schools/towns. The 3rd issue is NH has one of the most expensive state college tuitions in the country leaving our graduates with the most debt in the US. We need to explore ways our university system can offer a more affordable in-state tuition to our residents."

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by allowing home-growing and private use without sales?

"Let's try the state-run route first to see how successful it is or isn't. Alcohol sales are down and we need to seek additional revenue elsewhere. "

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by licensing growers and private retail locations?

"Let's try the state-run route first to see how successful it is or isn't. Alcohol sales are down and we need to seek additional revenue elsewhere. "

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by establishing state-run cannabis stores?

"Let's try the state-run route first to see how successful it is or isn't. Alcohol sales are down and we need to seek additional revenue elsewhere. This could potentially help fund education & lower property taxes.”

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"The minimum wage has been the same since 2008. With housing/ rental costs soaring, we should increase the rate, but it should be industry related. "

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add legal protections for residents of other states who travel here for health care related to abortion or gender transition?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire repeal the ban on abortion after 24 weeks gestation?

"Less than 30% of NH voters feel abortions should not have any restrictions. The majority feel some restrictions are warranted. Since most women elect to have abortions before 13 weeks, health risks/complications increase with advanced gestation periods, and the current law allows for safety intervention after 24 weeks there is no need to repeal this ban. We should continue to provide a wide array of education and resources available to continue the trend of decreasing abortion rates while keeping women safe & healthy."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement?

"Proper legal immigration pathways protects those seeking citizenship and current US citizens. "

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"NH has one of the lowest gun homicide rates reported in the country on average between 2018-2022. NH is similar to CA in it’s ranking, however NH is made up of roughly 46% gun owners as opposed to California’s 9.9% gun owners. In summary, NH far outnumbers gun ownership than CA, but has similar low gun homicide rates. This shows the majority of NH gun owners and citizens follow safe & legal gun protocols. Closing loop holes and enforcement of current gun laws/protocols should be done to further protect both gun owners and the general public."
