Should the federal government ban certain "military-style" firearms, such as the AR-15?
"The framing of the question needs to be more specific. Firearms like those have their place. Examples may include sport shooting events, qualified firing ranges, or similar organized environments. There needs to be regulation around ownership in the form of training, licensing, and storage at such locations. Specific semi and all automatic firearms need to be stored at registered locations, with regular mental assessment as part of the ownership requirements."

"Age is only a possible factor but not the only reason a competency test should be mandated for all federal candidates."

Should the U.S. send military forces to Taiwan if China attacks the island?
"This depends on if we deem it a national threat to our security. The pandemic revealed how vulnerable we are when microchip shortages affect productivity. The US has taken steps to remedy that, but I'd have to understand the state of our union at the time of this hypothetical."

Do you support a federal rule that would oblige automakers to make 50% or more of the vehicles they sell electric?
"The free market will dictate this, not the government. I own an electric vehicle. There are companies excelling at manufacturing and selling them, but mandates are not necessary. We don't have the method to deliver enough energy and storage of that energy even if it were mandated. It's coming, the market in working to solve this as we speak."

Do you support ending China's Permanent Normal Trade Relations status?
"At present, US companies do not have access to China's markets with the same openness afforded to Chinese companies. China steals intellectual property and leverages its markets against us. This landscape must be addressed but after a conversation of setting expectations with the American people that prices may rise if we deploy our own leverage."

Do you support revising Title IX to limit participation in female sports based on an individual's reproductive biology and genetics at birth?
"This is not a governmental matter. This is a private sports league matter that has its own governing body. Nothing prohibits anyone from forming their own sports league, team, or any other sport should they be inclined."

Should the federal government ban some abortions?
"There is nuance to this. Viability matters, the mother's safety matters, and that's not a decision the government should make. However, limits and timetables can be considered to define the WANT vs the NEED to have an abortion.
"This is subjective. There are no absolutes on scenarios for which an abortion should and should not occur. I would rather have this dialog on the grounds that late-term abortions are rare and that the delivery of a healthy child and/or mother should be protected."

Do you support increasing oil and natural gas leases on publicly owned land and water?
"Our energy portfolio needs to stay diverse, but at the same time, environmental trade-offs need to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, like Alaska, there needs to be compensation to the public for the extraction of resources and eventual unintended consequences."

Should the federal government limit certain firearm purchases to residents over age twenty-one?
"This age seems arbitrary. We allow individuals to operate a vehicle at 16 and join the military at 18, whereby they typically will have access to firearms. We allow individuals to drink at 21 under the premise that they are more responsible. Is the spirit of the law to hope an individual is more responsible by a certain age? or to provide a path of determining who may be responsible enough to have legal access to a firearm? Training, licensing requirements, and regularly required mental health assessments will be a better path towards addressing our gun violence."

Should the U.S. build a physical wall between Mexico and the U.S.?
"A wall is one way to address a symptom. Building a structure is not nearly enough if we intend to address the WHY of the results we don't want happening: Illegal crossing, drug, people, and firearm trafficking. In the age of great technology and thought, we can provide solutions to address causes, rather than symptoms."

Do you support using military force against drug cartels inside Mexico?
"This is the dumbest idea I have heard from Republican candidates. First, a war on drugs in perpetuity has yielded NO conclusion. The black market is the problem. We don't need to attack the Cartel to impact the reason for this question, which is to reduce American deaths from drug use. The idea of attacking your neighbor lacks the understanding that the Cartel will also respond, leading to real carnage and consequences on our fellow Americans."

Should the U.S. government continue to provide military aid to Ukraine (without putting U.S. soldiers on the ground)?
"The result that we need is for an end to the war. We've given without accountability for what has already been sent. Committing funds is not a solution. Committing weapons without brokering for peace first or a clear understanding of what the endgame would be a non-starter."
