Position on Issues

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2023

Should the federal government ban certain "military-style" firearms, such as the AR-15?

"While i respect our constitutional rights, It's essential to enhance enforcement, accountability, and regulation in gun sales to prevent these weapons from falling into the wrong hands. If such efforts prove insufficient to mitigate the risks associated with these firearms, then a ban on specific military-style weapons may be a necessary measure to improve public safety while respecting responsible gun ownership and addressing the potential for misuse."

Do you support abolishing any federal agencies or departments?

"Abolishing agencies can be very detrimental. I do believe that practically every agency does need an oversight audit and many need to be downsized for budgeting and fiscal adjustments."

Do you support ending China's Permanent Normal Trade Relations status?

"Ending PNTR status with China would have significant economic consequences. China is one of the world's largest economies and a major trading partner for many countries, including the United States. Disrupting trade relations with China could lead to increased prices for consumers and potential job losses in industries that rely on Chinese imports. China also plays a central role in many global supply chains, especially in sectors like electronics, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. Disrupting these supply chains could lead to shortages and economic instability. However, we do need to bring diplomatic talks to the table, because tensions have increasingly been rising between China and the U.S. They also align themselves with some of our major foreign adversaries. In the long run, we have to be very proactive to ensure that we are not funding our enemies and putting Americans at risk."

Should the federal government ban some abortions?

"This question is uniquely worded. 'some' is subjective. I personally am not a fan of excessively late term abortions, unless under the guidance and recommendation of a medical professional. However, please understand that the presence of laws and bans is not a deterrent and can lead to unsafe and harmful circumstances."

The multifaceted challenge of drug cartels in Mexico requires a comprehensive, tailored approach that combines these elements for a more effective and sustainable solution."

Would you pardon former president Donald Trump if he is convicted?

"I believe in fairness and second chances, but I also believe in accountability. Given the political environment, I have seen injustices from both sides of the aisle, especially when it comes to due process. Depending on the outcome, and how the trial is conducted, I might. I do not agree with practically anything that he stands for, however, nobody deserves to lose their freedom because of political biases. I would do the same for anyone who was not tried fairly."
