Should NH pursue expanded commuter rail?
"This needs to be studied in depth. My fear is that it will lead to a daily outward migration of our workforce and this daily migration is already significant."

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?
"The absence of this tax, I believe, gives a positive advantage to our retail sector, but like any broad-based tax it needs to be periodically reviewed. My experience in another state where there was an additional and somewhat significant increase in sales taxes - the actual increase in revenues was really insignificant for the state's coffers, but it did have a negative impact on businesses especially along the state's borders."

Should NH legalize the recreational use of marijuana?
"Being surrounded by states that have legalized marijuana, I would favor decriminalizing possession for personal use. My concern is the notion that NH would benefit from some windfall of added tax revenues. I believe we need to analysis these projections as there will be costs and obligations that will come with legalization and will be borne by our communities and services. Unfortunately, my coming of age in the 60's and going on to work as a youth leader here and in Britain, I witnessed too many instances of marijuana being an 'entry' into other drugs."

Was New Hampshire right to continue expanded Medicaid eligibility, using the traditional Medicaid system of managed care instead of private insurance?
"My problem with healthcare in this country (having lived abroad for almost 15 years) is that it is for-profit."

Should New Hampshire increase subsidies and tax credits for business investment?
"Incentives - be they subsidies and/or tax credits need constant review. The competition between states (and even within a state) is exceedingly tough. My belief from decades of experience as economic developer and former manufacturer is our best return on incentives and investments is growing our own - helping existing businesses maximize their potential, supporting entrepreneurship, and fostering creative ideas. We need to make sure our businesses and entrepreneurs have access to resources necessary to grow and prosper especially financing and assistance for training and upgrading the skills of their workforce. Our workforce is our greatest asset and as a state we must continue to enhance this asset."

Is police brutality an issue in NH?
"To the best of my knowledge, this is not an issue. We need, however, to continue to support with resources and training our law enforcement entities."

Should New Hampshire continue to participate in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which requires utilities to purchase allowances for every ton of carbon they emit?
"NH's environment is one of our most valuable assets and safeguarding it is one of our greatest responsibilities/challenges. Anything that negatively impacts our environment impacts the quality of life we enjoy and tout."

Should New Hampshire government do more to increase the supply of affordable housing?
"Affordable housing, not only for working families, but for young people entering the workforce is essential and needs to be addressed. In my experience, we do not have housing, especially rental, that is attractive to new graduates or single people especially in our less populated regions. I experienced this first-hand when I moved to NH in the mid-80's. In my position as the region's economic developer, I dealt with endless calls from employers seeking housing for workers they wanted to hire. We have some quality developers - we need to explore incentives that will motivate these developers and communities to address the issue."

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?
"I acknowledge our NH heritage and passion for hunting, but we must be rigid about background checks. I personally support banning the purchase of military-style assault weapons and bump stocks. To carry a concealed weapon, I feel a permit should be required. As a former educator and the parent of an educator, I do believe that guns should be banned on school campuses with the exception of law enforcement. What baffles me is why we do not require an education/training program or proof of such training (i.e., military) prior to issuing a permit to purchase a gun. We require training hours to operate a boat or motor vehicles. I would like to state here that these are my personal opinions. If elected I go to Concord to represent the residents of my district. There is the reality that there may be times when what they support might differ from my personal opinion/experience, but I am their representative and must (and will) recognize this."

Should New Hampshire allocate tax revenues for private and home schooling costs?
"I oppose allocating tax revenues for private and home schooling. We need to build the best public school/university system if this state is going to stay in the forefront of being a quality place to live, work and stay."
