Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"The Education Freedom Account program takes money from public schools attended by the majority of students and has no accountability. The State has no place paying for schools that discriminate against students and teachers, do not do background checks of employees, and have lower educational outcomes than our public schools."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"I support a woman's right to make thoughtful personal decisions about her own body and healthcare with the advice of her physicians and without government interference. I do not believe politicians should be making medical decisions. I also support expansion of reproductive healthcare for young and old, regardless of gender or who you choose to love."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

"I support a woman's right to make thoughtful personal decisions about her own body and healthcare with the advice of her physicians and without government interference. I do not believe politicians should be making medical decisions. I also support expansion of reproductive healthcare for young and old, regardless of gender or who you choose to love."

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"Ending the Interest and Dividends tax will likely cause a budget shortfall within the next few years. The partisan vote to do this benefited the wealthiest in NH, not everyday hardworking people. Yet, service cuts due to the lack of revenue will harm Granite Staters with the most needs and lower incomes, who did not benefit from the tax cut. To grow NH's economy, the shortfall will need to be addressed. I do not support a broad-based income tax. Some type of income tax that only applies to those with higher amounts of discretionary income could be balanced and fair."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"A general sales tax takes a higher percent of income from lower- and middle-income Granite Staters than from those at higher income levels. It is not based on a person's ability to pay. Looking at all the ways a state can generate revenue, a broad-based sales tax is one of the most unfair."

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"Although the total combined taxes paid by businesses tend to be lower in NH than most states (no sales tax or income tax), the Business Profits Tax is higher for those that pay it (a low percentage of companies). This also means few companies are contributing to public services (e.g. roads and bridges) that they use. I believe the legislature should adjust business taxes so that companies contribute to public services and NH promotes growth. I cannot support a one-size-fits-all lowering of taxes."

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?

"Capital gains taxes penalize investment and often impact middle-income earners and seniors, who have saved modest amounts outside of their retirement accounts and hold mutual funds. Wealthy individuals are better able to use their assets to avoid capital gains (borrowing against assets rather than selling and paying capital gains, gifting stock, etc.)"

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?

"I want my children and grandchildren to enjoy the NH lifestyle and beauty that I experience today. That will not happen without action. Also, I believe the future of NH's economy depends on climate change action. Warmer winters are negatively impacting tourism and agriculture, and causing more hazardous situations due to heavier rains and ice storms."

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"I believe the only voting problem we have in NH is that too few people vote. Returning documents to the state by a deadline creates hurdles for people who are lower income."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?

"Yes, removal of discriminatory barriers should be encouraged at the state level. I also believe towns and cities should control their own zoning regulations, because what is needed in Manchester or Nashua is vastly different from the needs of a town like Rindge without public water and sewers."

Do you support legislation to expand the net energy metering system capacity cap from 1 MW to 5 MW for all residential and commercial customers in New Hampshire?

"Energy cost in NH are high because of dependence on fossil fuels, which do not occur here in our state (they are imported from other regions). Expanded net metering and a more distributed infrastructure will reduce energy costs for everyday Granite Staters."

Should New Hampshire guarantee the right to access abortion before 24 weeks?

"I support a woman's right to make thoughtful personal decisions about her own body and healthcare with the advice of her physicians and without government interference. I do not believe politicians should be making medical decisions. I also support expansion of reproductive healthcare for young and old, regardless of gender or who you choose to love."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should the state increase funding for child care providers?

"In 2023 the average child care worker who is entrusted with our children's lives made less than someone working in retail. Our state also has a shortage of child care workers. I support NH funding for programs expanding access to child care, training to ensure the quality and safety of child care, and support to families to afford it. Without this level of funding, NH will not have sufficient workers to grow its economy or attract new businesses."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"The percent of public school funding from the state has decreased to the point NH provides less money to schools than any other state in the U.S. The courts have held that the NH's funding of schools is inadequate. It is time for a change. The current approach has created a situation where the wealthiest towns have the lowest taxes and poorer towns the highest."

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"The Federal Minimum Wage, $7.25, used in NH is unchanged since 2010. The purpose of the minimum wage is to ensure hardworking people are paid fairly for a days work and provide a minimum acceptable standard of living. In today's dollars, the minimum wage keeps families in poverty. Raising the minimum wage will help families across NH and stimulate the economy."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add legal protections for residents of other states who travel here for health care related to abortion or gender transition?

"I do not believe a person's healthcare choices should be restricted nor interstate travel for healthcare blocked."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire repeal the ban on abortion after 24 weeks gestation?

"I support a woman's right to make thoughtful personal decisions about her own body and healthcare with the advice of her physicians and without government interference. I do not believe politicians should be making medical decisions. I also support expansion of reproductive healthcare for young and old, regardless of gender or who you choose to love."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement?

"Local law enforcement is not trained nor staffed to assume federal immigration enforcement."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"I am with the majority of Granite Staters who agree that violent criminals and people with serious mental issues should not have guns, and that children should be supervised. Hunting and use of firearms is part of our NH lifestyle. I support gun safety training, especially for children, so that we continue to be responsible gun owners."
