Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?
"We should not increase funding for EFAs until the state lives up to its Constitutional obligation to fund the public schools. The EFA program needs accountability and oversight. At present there is very little. There should be financial accountability, educational accountability and civil rights accountability."For| Read My Position

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?
"Climate change is real and the effects are already being felt. They will become much more severe within the next 20 years. NH is not doing its part to deal with climate change. We should significantly increase our efforts to promote solar energy, energy efficiency and conservation measures. We only produce 1% of our electricity from solar energy while all three of our bordering states produce 15-20% of their electricity from solar energy. Energy efficiency and conservation are important because every kilowatt we can save is one less that we have to produce."For| Read My Position

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?
"Voting is a fundamental right, and is the right upon which our other rights rests. We should not create laws taking away the right to vote from people who are legally entitled to vote. There is absolutely no evidence of voter fraud in New Hampshire and restrictions on the right to vote are not called for."Other| Read My Position

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?
"The state should invest in housing. It is essential to the future of our state's economy. We need more workforce housing and senior housing. If communities are interested in building more housing, then the state should provide financial assistance with infrastructure support. There are multiple solutions to the housing crisis and no single solution will be enough. We need to work hard to develop a comprehensive plan."For| Read My Position

Should the state increase funding for child care providers?
"We need to build up the child care system in NH. This would include helping existing child care providers with their systems and infrastructure, working to increase places where child care is provided (such as on-site child care for employers where this would be feasible), increase assistance to educational programs for people who are interested in this field, increase wages for the professionals in this field, and increase access to the existing child care scholarship program."Against| Read My Position

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?
"The State of NH has a Constitutional duty to fund the public schools. Under the Claremont decision, it is the state's job to provide funding for the public schools, not the local towns. We should increase state funding for public schools. This would guarantee every child the opportunity for a good education and would result in local property tax relief. We should overturn the repeal of the Interest and Dividends Tax which would provide a significant source of funding to the state that could be used for public school funding (on the order of $140 million per year)."For| Read My Position
