Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"I believe we need good information to make good decisions. I am in favor of including the $4 million rail study in the State's 10-year transportation plan. The funds are from the federal government and while all 'free' money really comes from taxpayers, the $4 million would not come directly from New Hampshire residents and would not represent an additional tax burden. We should take advantage of the funds and commission the study.

"As an Alderman I voted in favor of the Memorandum of Understanding Nashua now has with the Boston Surface Railroad Company (BSRC.) BSRC's plan as approved by the Board of Aldermen and signed by the Mayor, is to build and operate a for-profit rail service that can connect Nashua to Boston, via transfer at a station in Massachusetts, that will not cost New Hampshire taxpayers anything other than the cost to build a station. I believe BSRC's plan is sound and I am looking forward to seeing how it develops.

"In summary, I believe we should do the $4 million study while also doing all we can to see that BSRC's plan succeeds."

"Some believe we should raise taxes, maybe even by implementing a sales tax or income tax in New Hampshire for the first time. I am firmly against this option and believe most Nashua residents don't want higher taxes either."

"One of the issues I see in Nashua is a lack of quality, affordable housing. We have a strong economy with good paying jobs but we don't have the housing people need to live, work and play here. I have an idea to help solve this problem that I'd like to tell you about. ... I would like everyone in Nashua to have the same opportunity I had to buy a home and build a life. As a senator one of my first priorities will be to sponsor legislation that will allow cities and towns in New Hampshire to offer a tax credit program for owner-occupied multi-family houses if the city so chooses. It will not be a mandatory program. It will be optional for the city, but I believe that any city, including Nashua, that offers it will encourage young people to buy a property, build equity, raise a family, and live the American dream just like I did. They will contribute to our local economy and way of life. It's a win-win for everyone!"
