Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"Education Freedom Accounts take public tax dollars away from our schools, towns, and often state with little/no oversight or accountability. Students and their families have always had a choice, just not at taxpayer expense. This is a thinly disguised attempt destroy the bedrock of our democracy: access to public education."

Should New Hampshire ban discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3?

"Some children at this age, as well as their parents, identify as LGBTQ+. Banning discussion limits knowledge, tolerance, self-awareness and acceptance, understanding, and acceptance. This is culturally regressive and cruel. Bans like this are limiting our freedom."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the state law that bans teaching certain concepts, such as the idea that people may be "inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously"?

"Broadly, education should encourage everyone not only to learn history and didactic information, but to think and use critical thinking in their everyday lives. Specifically, history is on a continuum to the present day and struggles related to race and sexism continue to the present day. To deny this history and the ability to examine the intersection of history, society, and government is censorship. The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States protects the right of free speech. Bans like this limit our freedom and are against the Constitution."

Should New Hampshire add a tax credit for businesses that contribute to student loan repayment for employees?

"New Hampshire's business economy would benefit if it could attract and retain more young, skilled, educated workers. At the same time, young people are struggling under the weight of educational loans. This would benefit the economy and address the worker shortage."

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"New Hampshire had lowered taxes for big, out-of-state corporations and shifted state responsibilities to increase property taxes"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?

"By lowering the interest and dividends tax and BPT, BET taxes, Sununu and Republican led legislature, have decreased revenue and shifted the burden onto towns and property taxes. NH Business Review Aug 3, 2023 reported no evidence this led to increased revenue. Reckless spending on school vouchers will further stress out towns school budgets. In short, they have stiffed people, property owners, schools, and towns for political gains."

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"They should be able to sign an affidavit which is a legally binding document. Our election laws should allow for same day registration and on-line voting. We should allow voting access and encourage representation rather than deny voting privileges to our citizens. There has been little to no evidence of voter fraud."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"NH has a constitutional requirement to provide students an adequately funded education. The State Supreme Court ruled the base adequacy per student cost must be at least $7356 per student which is still far less than the of the actual cost of $19,000 per pupil. Because the state downshifted its responsibility for retirement to our towns and is underfunding our schools, municipalities have been forced to sue the state to fulfill its constitutional responsibility."

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"Most gun owners, including myself, support safe and responsible gun ownership. I support background checks, three day waiting periods, red flag laws, and restrictions on assault weapons. Gun legislation should serve the public's interests, not that of the gun manufacturers and lobbyists."
