Position on Issues

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"Yes. It should also be expanded to become 'Universal' so all children are eligible regardless of household income."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"No. We are already suffering under a federal income tax and there is no need to compound that with a state-level income tax."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"No. New Hampshire citizens enjoy a much better economic environment without the burden of sales taxes."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"Yes. We already have reductions to the BET and BPT coming over the next 5 years. Further reductions would be a great way to incentivize more businesses coming to New Hampshire."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?

"No. Increased taxation on peoples' income (even capital gains) will stifle economic activity and push people out of the state."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?

"No. This is more a social issue and people need to make their own decisions in their lives what impact they want to have on the environment."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"Absolutely not. Voting is one of the critical applications of political power in this state, and it needs to be safeguarded by verifying that the people casting ballots are citizens that primarily reside in that district."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?

"Yes. We have pre-emption of state law. The state should set the laws/rules for zoning and the municipalities should instead focus on helping developers be compliant with the laws, instead of being the decision makers of development."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support legislation to expand the net energy metering system capacity cap from 1 MW to 5 MW for all residential and commercial customers in New Hampshire?

"Yes. I would also like to see the net-metering system done away with as it creates an unnecessary level of overhead for private producers of power that makes it fiscally unattractive."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire guarantee the right to access abortion before 24 weeks?

"No. This would be seen as legally making what should 'safe, legal, and rare' more socially acceptable as a method of birth control. It is already established in current law and there is not much need/desire to change it."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should the state increase funding for child care providers?

"No. This is a service that can (and should) be handled by the market."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"No. The current system makes funding of schools compulsory for property owners who aren't utilizing the service."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by allowing home-growing and private use without sales?

"Yes. Its use and sales should be completely decriminalized."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by licensing growers and private retail locations?

"Yes. Its use and sales should be completely decriminalized."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by establishing state-run cannabis stores?

"No. This would open the door for a massive crony system state-approved growers and retailers. The state should not be involved at all."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"No. There is currently no need as employers offering entry-level jobs are already exceeding the existing minimum wage. This indicates there is enough market demand for employees to make higher wages a competing factor."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire add legal protections for residents of other states who travel here for health care related to abortion or gender transition?

"Not applicable. This is a non-issue currently in New Hampshire as all neighboring states have the same, or less, restrictions on abortions."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should New Hampshire repeal the ban on abortion after 24 weeks gestation?

"No. While I would not personally condone an abortion after this period, there might still exist certain instances where an abortion of pregnancy might be medically necessary for the life of the mother."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement?

"No. It should be up to New Hampshire to decide on enforcing illegal immigration within our state. The federal government should be focusing on securing the border and preventing illegal immigration first."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"Absolutely not. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
