"I would privatize state-owned facilities (e.g. ski resorts) where possible to reduce need for taxes and allow the market to function. Whenever we can privatize, we can improve services while capping costs. A good example of this is school choice: over $16,000 per year per pupil could provide a good private education for all students. Instead it just pays to expand bureaucracies. If education money were spent effectively, technology would drive education costs down. The most important part of New Hampshire's 'revenue structure' is the part that stays with the people who worked for it, not the part spent by the state."

"As the NH Dept of Education web site will tell you, we spend over $16,000 per pupil already. More money won't make public schools better (look at Washington D.C. and their 30K per pupil expenditures). Only innovation and choice can improve education."

"Subsidies for industries must end (I'm thinking of subsidized wood-burning plants, but all subsidies are uneconomic and corrupting). The use of eminent domain for commercial power lines, etc. must stop (and companies that keep lobbying for eminent domain after they have been told 'no' once need to realize that's not going to work!) We need electric power, but it has to be produced in a competitive way, with no regulatory favors for one type of power over another."

Should NH provide more funding for charter schools?
"Education money should go to the parents, not to bureaucracies. We spend $16,000 per pupil in NH, enough for every student to go to a great school."
