Should NH allow binding referendums?
"California is ruled be referendum, and that process has driven the state into constant economic turmoil, and forced endless self interest groups to invade the state every election. We have town meetings in NH, and the largest state delegation of any state. We know our legislators, and we speak our minds. Referendum issues are best discussed with our Reps, who can and often to bring those matters to the full House."

Should NH decriminalize small amounts of marijuana?
"Yes, decriminalize marijuana. I oppose the drug war in general. It is a waste of taxpayer money, is ineffective, and has resulted in the largest incarceration of citizens in the advanced world. I would sooner regulate the product to make it safer, and tax it to support NH's general fund."

What differentiates you from your opponents?
"I am not guided by a rigid libertarian ideology, but rather common sense and NH pragmatism. I did not move here as a member of the Free State Project with 1000's of others to get involved in politics and change NH into a libertarian state. I support public education, UNH, collective bargaining, women's access to birth control, mandatory lunch breaks, the minimum wage, compulsory education, the 18 year-old dropout age, kindergarten, NH law enforcement, limits on title loan/payday loan usury rates, licensing for hairdressers etc, and laws that protect minorities from discrimination on any grounds. When these issues were up for vote, my opponent Mark Warden voted against them. I do not support guns in classrooms or the state house, Right-to-Work, nullification, public money for private schools, loosened weapon restrictions for convicted felons, or eliminating NH marriages and replacing them with domestic unions. Mr. Warden voted in favor of all of these things."

Should New Hampshire increase subsidies and tax credits for business investment?
"I am not in favor of adding this expenditure as the cost/benefit ratio is way out of whack. I am a community banker; I make loans to NH small businesses. The universal complaint among them is lack of qualified employees. For this, I would prioritize funding education and infrastructure such as broadband access and commuter rail."

What is your philosophy of government?
"A minimal government is most desirable however, "If men were angels, no government would be necessary."-Alexander Hamilton. Government is there to do what the private sector can't-or wont do. Government can be a great source of societal advancement, given the political will and solidarity of the citizens in reaching a common goal. A lack of government is anarchy, though libertarians would argue otherwise, and I disagree wholeheartedly with their belief that good deeds will ultimately prevail."

Is police brutality an issue in NH?
"I am unaware of ongoing concerns with NH police. In Deering, where I am in my sixth year as Selectman with police oversight, we have no concerns. Our department uses community policing practices and maintains widespread support of their efforts. Deering should be the model statewide."

Should NH use taxpayer money to build a memorial to the Old Man?
"I require more information to make an informed decision. Anything of the sort would need to be tasteful, and the cost would need to have an equal benefit. I worry the end result would be a tacky scar and cost far too much, however the symbol of NH is sorely missed. As I said, I need more information. I am not opposed, but skeptical."

Should NH restrict further wind power development?
"I am for local input. In Deering, we passed a local wind ordinance which allows development if a series of criteria are met, including significant public input. I want to support wind, but not all locations are appropriate. I would favor any legislation that sets up guidelines that includes significant public input, but I also favor renewable energy development. Specific bill language would need to be presented for my firm answer."
