SB 556 (2024)
Prohibit health insurers reimbursing differently based on licensure
Summary:
Requires health insurers to reimburse for health services provided by an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) if they would reimburse for that service when performed by another type of health care provider.
The Senate rewrote the bill to more broadly prohibit health insurers from establishing payment or reimbursement provisions based solely on a participating provider's licensure.
The House amended the bill to once again more narrowly prohibit health insurers from establishing payment or reimbursement provisions based solely on a participating APRN's licensure.
