$2.5 million for homeless shelters

Summary:

Directs the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to establish a homelessness prevention pilot program, to be administered through municipalities and community action programs. This bill also sends $5 million for municipalities to spend on homeless shelters, rent assistance, and related expenses for those at risk of homelessness.

The Senate amended the bill to instead send $2.5 million to DHHS to increase rates paid to shelter programs.
