SB 404 (2024)

Temporarily expand child care workforce scholarships for child care

Summary:

Establishes eligibility criteria for child care professionals to receive child care scholarships. In general, this bill makes more child care professionals eligible for a scholarship for their own children, regardless of income.

The Senate amended the bill to instead direct the Department of Health and Human Services to establish a child care workforce child care assistance pilot program.

The House rewrote the bill to temporarily expand eligibility for the child care scholarship program to child care employees with incomes at or below median state income.
