SB 355 (2024)
Revise newborn screening for cytomegalovirus
Requires newborn screening for cytomegalovirus (CMV). This bill also directs the pregnant woman's health care provider to perform an amniocentesis to confirm a congenital CMV infection if certain signs are identified during an ultrasound.
The Senate rewrote the bill to instead direct the Department of Health and Human Services to provide information on the importance of early detection of CMV through the New Hampshire newborn screening program
The House rewrote the bill again. Their version of the bill requires newborn hearing screening and diagnostic hearing evaluation reports to include the result of cytomegalovirus (CMV) screening for any infant who does not pass the final newborn hearing screening.
