HB 194 (2023)

Require state list of public monuments, require legislative approval to change historic marker

Summary:

Requires the director of the Division of Historical Resources to compile and maintain a list of public monuments.

The Senate amended the bill to also require legislative approval before any historical marker is changed or removed. A conference committee of representatives and senators changed this part of the bill so approval is only required by the joint legislative fiscal committee.
