HB 1583 (2024)

Increase per-pupil state education funding

Summary:

Increases the base annual state per-pupil school funding, from $4,100 to $10,000.

The House rewrote the bill. The amended bill increases the universal base cost within the education funding formula from $4,182 per pupil to $4,404 per pupil. The bill then adds "fiscal capacity disparity" funding (for towns with low property values) and increases funding for students eligible for free and reduced price lunch.
