HB 1166 (2020)

Coronavirus insurance coverage, protections for employees

Summary:

Establishes a committee to study the demographics of the uninsured population in New Hampshire, the barriers to obtaining healthcare coverage, and possible solutions to extend health insurance coverage. The Senate completely amended the bill to add various requirements and protections for employers and employees related to the coronavirus. For example, the amended bill allows employees to collect unemployment if they cannot go to work because they or a family member is sick with COVID-19 - even if Gov. Sununu ends the state of emergency. The amended version of the bill also requires employers to provide personal protective equipment if there are 10 or more customers or employees in the workplace on a regular basis. The amended bill also requires insurers to waive cost-sharing for coronavirus-related testing and treatments.
